HOW TO HAVE A CLEAN SLATE WITH GOD
A CLEAN SLATE WITH GOD
One of my favorite classroom memories as a teenager was when my Math teacher would ask me to help erase the black board. The board/slate would look clean once again ready for the next lesson to be taught. Have you wished for a DO OVER in life? A moment in life where we could have a clean start with God and the people we hurt.
I realized there are so many lessons I need to learn every day even as an adult. The mistakes I make are on a rise these days.
I have been using my oven space to store all my bakeware and other items. So when I want to bake something, I will have to take them all out in order to cook. It has been a hassle most days. Today, I decided to make some brownies.
5 minutes into the pre-heating , I smelled something burning.
But I thought it must be some old crumbs that is getting burned and went on with other household work. The smell became terrible.
So , I opened my oven door only to see that a plastic container that was left behind was melting onto the bottom of the oven and some even steeped deep into the crevices .
It was a mess that I wished never happened. The burning smell filled my home, and it felt like my new oven will never be able the same again.
The next two hours, I spent cleaning the bottom rack of my oven carefully. The plastic had hardened and pricked the flesh inside my nails as I tried to remove it. My thumbs bled as I cleaned.
Lesson :
Never ever leave a plastic in a hot burning oven.
You have to thoroughly clean the plastic and heat is the only thing that can melt it.
You must always put the light on to clean. The oven had a light and had I used that feature I would have seen the plastic Tupperware because using the oven.
Some blood and sweat will be shed for a deep cleaning of our messes.
A clean slate from God who is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD is our answer.
Psalm 119:105 – God’s Word is a light to my feet
But what if we did commit the unthinkable ?
–Can we be restored back to His loving embrace?
–Who can give us a clean slate ,and forgive our sins?
Romans 3:23 clearly states, ” For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Psalm 51:7 ,“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be white as snow
Psalm 139:23, “Search me, O God, and know my heart, Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
Dear friend,
— Is the conviction of sin tearing you apart? Has it brought shame ,and scorn in your life?
— Has it alienated you from the Lord, and questioned His unconditional love and forgiveness no matter what?
–Has it become easier to point fingers at others ,than correct oneself?
— Or are you at the crossroad and trying really hard to flee sin?
Sinners have loved sin, their own evil and have compromised on what God actually says about sins.
Our sins deserve all griefs, sorrows, and punishment. We cloud our very judgement compromising with sin, and pretending we are living in the light.
1 John 1:7-9 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
The penalty of sin is death, and the Son of Man has willingly carried them upon Himself ,and paid the heavy price.
Jesus shed every last drop of his blood so that you and I can have a clean slate
JESUS PAID IT ALL AND GAVE US A CLEAN SLATE WITH GOD FROM SIN.
Isaiah 53: 4-6 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering ,yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
RETURN BACK TO ME, SAYS THE LORD GOD , FOR I HAVE BORE YOUR SINS,YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS, AND SHAME ON THE CROSS.
Jesus alone can give us not just a SECOND CHANCE ,but a MILLION CHANCES to reconcile with HIM today.
Clean slate it is for you and me today, for He remembers our past and confessed sins no more, but gently yet firmly reminds us to ‘SIN NO MORE’.♥
The burning smell of the plastic taught me how sin produces a stench that can only be transformed into a Fragrance through the Gospel

March 13, 2017 at 2:31 pmWhat an honest, vulnerable, and encouraging post! I am so, so thankful for the Lord’s gracious forgiveness through Christ everyday, since I’m in desperate need of it. This reminded me of 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
