7 ADMIRABLE QUALITIES EVERY CHRISTIAN MUST CHOOSE TO EMBODY
Choices. choices. choices. There is so much to choose from on this earth both good or bad, desire or need, lust or love, take life or give life, steal or donate. Everyone has the freewill to choose and know the consequences of the choices each have made.
We can even choose what kind of attitude we can have each day, or the friendships we must continue to have, and the qualities we must choose to embody as a Christian on this earth. The choices we choose to make are vital for our personal growth and for the generations after us.
Here are 7 choices every faithful Christian who has accepted the Lord as their Savior must consciously strive to embody in this world:
1.CHOOSE TO LOVE LIKE JESUS –
I see Jesus on the Cross marred and whipped by His own creation. He was mocked, spat upon, and cruelly mistreated as a thief on that Calvary.
Yet, I see Jesus choosing to Love us and die on the Cross in our stead. One of His most powerful prayers were “Father, forgive (insert your name) for she doesn’t know what she is doing [ paraphrased in my own words]
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16, NLT
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. Ephesians 1:4, NLT
2.CHOOSE TO SERVE LIKE JOSHUA :
Serving God must be a free choice and should not force upon anyone. Joshua gave a choice to the people of Israel. The Israelites have travelled the wilderness for 40 years after leaving the land of slavery ,Egypt.
After giving a choice to the people , Joshua says “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” .
Joshua decided that he and his family will serve the Lord, even if they will have to stand alone in their decisions.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Mathew 6 : 24, NIV
—Have you and your family decided to serve the Lord come what may?
3.CHOOSE TO GLORIFY CHRIST:
To glorify God means to give the Creator of this Universe the entire glory and honor due to HIM. Everything we think and know we own ultimately belongs to our Heavenly Father and our chief end is to glorify Christ.
Jesus, Himself set a standard to imitate for that , “I seek not mine own glory, but the glory of him who sent me.” (John 8:50).
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)
4. A CHRISTIAN MUST CHOOSE TO FLEE SIN LIKE JOSEPH :
Sin lurks around taking many forms and shapes to make sure a child of God can fall unaware. It bewitches a woman of God with the temptation that is hard to resist.
Joseph may have been a slave of Potiphar, but he made sure to never be a slave to sin.
God has called us to be heirs to HIM and not slaves to sin.
5.CHOOSE AFFLICTION OVER PLEASURES LIKE MOSES :
Moses was handpicked by the daughter of Pharaoh and raised in the palace . He was given everything that a royal son would deserve. He could have easily enjoyed the pleasures in the palace, yet he chose to be mistreated along with the people of God. (Hebrews 11:25).
By faith when Moses made this wise decision, he was chosen to lead God’s people into the Promise Land.
Many God’s servants have chosen to step into faith and hear God’s call by leaving the comforts of their home to be missionaries.
The places they chose were Afghanistan and other countries where Christians are daily persecuted.
—-How often have we chosen the freedom to be who we want over where God wants us to lead?
6. CHOOSE TO PRAY LIKE DANIEL:
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10, NIV
Daniel prayed 3 times every day. It wasn’t in the luxury of his palace or home that he chose to pray. He was taken a captive and was in a completely foreign land. It was a habitual pattern that he trained himself to be, and not something he started after being a slave.
We must make sure to never rob God from giving HIM the due honor and respect through consistent prayer.
Never let the sun go down without making sure you and I have had a heartfelt conversation with the Creator of this entire universe.
—How often do we pray in a public place, or read the bible during a commute?
7. EVERY CHILD OF GOD MUST CHOOSE TO OBEY LIKE ABRAHAM :
Abraham teaches us to obey God even when things don’t make sense, and even when the task given is the most difficult one. God asked Abraham to leave his country and go to a place where Yahweh wanted to bless him and his generations.
Abraham, fatherless at the time chose to obey God without ever asking Him about the exact location he is supposed to go.
Secondly, when God required of a sacrifice from Abraham, the latter never withheld his only promised son Isaac at the altar. Genesis 22 : 2-8
And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God James 2:23,NLT.
Ponder Upon :
—–>How did this post bless you today?
—–>Is there a specific choice the Lord has been asking to make in your life lately?
I have also attached a free pdf with reflective questions on each of these qualities. Click here to print I pray it blesses you immensely.
Friend, I appreciate you taking your time to read and write your comment.
Next week, we will talk about ” The Power of choosing that ONE THING”
Until we meet again here,

October 11, 2017 at 3:51 pmI really love how you tie each of these character traits to a Biblical example. The Spirit reveals His character in the Scriptures and shows us how people have reflected that character – or not reflected it. These are powerful examples and helpful reminders!

November 27, 2017 at 12:47 pmThanks so much for sharing these examples from the Bible to back-up the Godly choices we are to make daily. It adds so much to the application to see it in action through those Bible characters.
I was convicted that i am not like Moses where I choose affliction over pleasure. I tend to complain and kick and whine in affliction, let alone to choose to be in an uncomfortable situation out of obedience.
Great post!
