How to encounter true freedom through the Gospel of Christ

Freedom

There is one place I have prayed I will never ever visit in my lifetime, and that is the prison cells. I have pictured prison to be filled with hard core criminals chained around their hands, waist, and feet.

I have visualized prison officers walking with their guns pointed around these criminals. A place where freedom is unimaginable and unattainable.

So, I vow to obey all the laws so  I will never go to prison because I want to walk freely. But little did I know that I have been prisoner chained by my own sins and bondages from my childhood traumas. Every step I took dragged my feet because of the heavy chains I carried in my heart.

The bible says that

“ In sin my mother conceived me “ Psalm 51:5,KJV

There is no one righteous, no not one Romans 3:10,kJV

“……escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”2 Timothy 2:16, NLT

“ …For a man is a slave to whatever has overcome him.” 2 Peter 2:19

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin” John 8:34 ,NLT

The Conflict of Two Natures –

“For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.

For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.

But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.”Romans 7:14-25,NASB

How to experience freedom from the battle of sin

I recently read that the coffin that God’s servant Billy Graham was put to rest was built by a convicted murderer who received the Gospel while he was in the prison. Praise the Lord!

“He heard the groans of prisoners and set free those who were condemned to die” Psalm 102:20

Today is the day to examine our lives and see whether it is filled with oppression, and sin. We may say we haven’t murdered anyone with a gun or knife, but have our words killed someone?

The battle of sin is one of the biggest battles we will face, but there is good news in Jesus Christ

Have we become slaves to man’s demands, and allowed past abuse to imprison us?

The Old Master was a tyrant, the New Master is your Father, Loving God

Your old Master confined you , but your New Master Jesus sets you free.

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1, NASB

Today, if the Lord asks me to visit the prison I will go because I want to tell every prisoner in this world that the Gospel can set them free just as I am free.

Friend, here are 3 steps to experience the freedom through the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Walking in freedom with God is something that the world needs to see Christians embracing, because it will change our lives in a way that people cannot help but notice! Those of us who know the Lord need to walk in that freedom and not allow ourselves to get weighed down by sin and other things.

WOW very eye opening post! So true! I really believe the person who is imprisoned in his/her heart is in worse shape than the one in a physical prison. There could be someone in a physical prison right now who has accepted Christ and feels free inside and is probably being used by Jesus to touch other there. TY for this wonderful post! ❤

Awesome and freeing post, Diana. We absolutely can be chained and in prison in our hearts and souls. And I didn’t know that about Billy Graham’s coffin…amazing! Tweeted this. Visiting you today from #HeartEncouragement.
