The special significance of these 4 unique name of Jesus

What a Name :

Our names become our recognition on this earth. Without a name, it is nearly impossible to have a conversation with anyone, or identify anything.

Lights have lit up everywhere near my town. Trees are decorated , and every home looks so beautiful at night. We tend to remember the birth of Jesus only during Christmas, but it is important to remember that God took the form of man every single day.

What is so special about this little baby born in Bethlehem? So many babies were born that day all over the world.

800 years ago, before Christ, Isaiah prophesied about the birth and names of this amazing baby. This also confirms that Jesus is God and God took the form of man .

In Isaiah 9:6 we read;

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Before we go in-depth with each of these names, let us ask ourselves the following questions:

1.How do these names relate with my relationship with God?

2.Why did God take the form of man ?

The 4-fold Unique Name Of Jesus

A CHILD is born:

This shows us the humanity of God.In the fulness of time set up by God, the Father , Jesus was born.(the date is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible)

What matters is not when exactly He was born but why He took the form of man. I will be mentioning that towards the end of this post.

Immanuel – God is with us is born of a virgin

Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

A SON is given:

This implies the deity of God.

Given by whom? God the Father gave us His only begotten Son, his gift on whom no man can claim his right.(John 3:16). He is God even before He is born of a virgin.

The Government shall be upon His shoulders:

This talks about how God is the LORD over everything. LORD OF ALL. God’s Kingdom in the future where He will reign over all those who believe in HIM.

What a broad shoulder our Lord has, to carry each of us on Him today. When we are weary, tired and cannot walk anymore.

He promises to lift you up and carry you. Let go of the burdens you have been carrying all these years. Jesus can carry our generations  on His shoulder.

He shall be named:

Oh, a name higher than every other name. I AM THAT I AM , the ALPHA and the OMEGA. What a beautiful name indeed to be revered and loved.

THE FOUR FOLD UNIQUE NAME OF JESUS :

1. Wonderful:

The Hebrew name for Wonderful is PELA. It means wonder, miracle. Everything about this newborn in Bethlehem was a wonder.

GOD who took a form of a man.

God of this universe was born in a manger and not a palace.

Jesus was conceived in a Virgin’s womb.

The angels sang at His birth, and wise men worshipped a newborn.

——Has God done anything wonderful in your life?

Counselor

The role of a counselor is to guide you in the right path every step of the way. God wants to lead us into the path of righteousness for His name’s sake today.

Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Leading our family in this wicked time is not easy.Working 2-3 jobs to make our ends meet can be stressful, feeling attacked by our own can be drowning, moving to a new position OR place can be overwhelming.

The question is what do you do then?

Can you trust this Counselor to lead you out of your innumerable problems?

Do you seek God’s counsel even in the trivial matters of your life?

2. Mighty God:

This name “Mighty God” reminds me that He is mightier than all our crippling circumstances. He is mighty to save us today from the pit that we are falling into, and mightier than

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save

Isaiah 40:28-31 Mighty in power and gives strength to the ones who faints

* Jot down the times this Mighty God strengthened you in your most vulnerable moments.

4 fold names of Jesus

3. Everlasting Father :

I love visualizing Jesus as my Father the most. A daughter is always supposed to be her father’s princess. Treated royally and gently. Many earthly fathers have failed in this area and have either abandoned their children, abused them, or wounded the little souls.

Dear Friend, do you crave for a father’s love?

Look nowhere else except to this loving, everlasting Father who has His arms wide open for you. He will not reject you, or abuse you ever.

For in Him you will receive a secure bond with an eternal Father who promises an eternal inheritance.

**Can you envision dancing in the arms of this Everlasting Father?

4. Prince of Peace :

Violence has increased a lot , people are killed by guns and words. Amidst that a name arises to give us peace – The Prince of Peace.

It is the sin in man that causes so much calamity and disruptions in this world. A world who has rejected the Prince of peace needs spiritual restoration and healing.

This Prince of peace doesn’t say that life will be peaceful. His peace that surpasses all understanding will guard and protect our hearts during the storms.

Why did God take the form of a man?

Mathew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you shall give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins

Christmas ties to the Gospel. That Christ was born of a virgin, so that He can live among us, and carry our sins upon Himself. He died so that we could live in Christ.

No other gods died and rose again ever, except Lord Jesus.

I love what C. S. Lewis said about it “The Son of God became a man that men might become sons of God.”

Which name of Jesus can you relate more today?

–Have you intimately known this Messiah in your life?

Until we meet again here

Blessed Christmas and Shalom
