3 R’s to reclaim when you hit rock bottom in your life
Do you have a time in your life when you hit rock bottom? The feeling at that time can be one of the hardest to let go from.
Satan sure knows about our weaknesses. No, he is not omnipotent nor all powerful.
We ourselves have shown our human nature and our struggles. The devil is studying us. Did you know that?
He knows who can irk us and what can make us hit rock bottom
The Devil watches whether we are addicted to movies /phones all day or run to sit at the feet of Christ.
He knows about our addictions and our struggle to flee sin.
So, the devil will try to entice us, rehash our past, and whisper the biggest lie of all “Did God really say that He will never leave you?”
Maybe you have fallen into sin and now you wonder if you can ever receive forgiveness.
You find that you have been captured as a prey and have become alienated from God.
Remember Samson?
I have been studying about him lately or rather the Lord wants me to learn about the power of restoration through Samson’s life.
My last post was on the topic “ Why the Devil is interested in the SOURCE OF YOUR STRENGTH“ and it taught me valuable lessons to remember about Satan.
Samson was granted a great strength from God, yet he had his weaknesses. At some point in time, he chose to be a rebellious man and chased after things of the world.
We read in Judges 16 :21 that he is now tied up by the enemy.
“Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding grain in the prison.”
This same Samson who was known to be the strongest is now at his lowest.
Are you feeling low today, my friend?
Have the weight of your hurts and brokenness being wearing you down?
The next verse in Judges 16:28 we read; Samson cried out to the Lord. This time he didn’t look for anyone else except looked ABOVE.
“Sovereign LORD remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more”
Here are the 3 R’s to claim when you hit rock bottom-
1.When you hit rock bottom -Remember who is a greater ROCK
Greater is He in you than he of the world. Christ is greater than your depression and oppression.
Jesus is bigger than the mountains you are facing.
The Devil cannot touch you without God’s permission.
Cry out to Jesus. He hasn’t forgotten you. Invite Him back for your strength comes from the Lord.
Christ is our Rock of safety, Rock of ages, and Rock of our salvation!
2.When you hit rock bottom -Realize your worth and your uniqueness.
I see these sparrows daily in front of my house and I love to hear their chirping. Back in India and here in the US, I have loved this carefree bird. These beautiful birds were my only friends in my lowest times during my childhood days.
Not many will take a second glance at this bird though probably because they are not seen as exotic birds.
Sparrows are tiny, fragile bird with a bland color. They can be found all over the world. They look insignificant next to a red robin, toucan, or a colorful peacock.
The Lord who mentioned these sparrows, notices you as well. You are precious to Him.
You worth is not based on whether you are just a stay at home mom or a woman making 6 figures.
Your worth does not go high or low based on your relationship status, struggles, or race.
3. When you hit rock bottom – REACH OUT FOR HELP
I heard about this story recently and it captured my attention. Jessica McClure Morales fell into a narrow well on October 14, 1987, at the age of 18 months. The rescuers worked for 56 hours to free her from the 8-inch well casing 22 feet below the ground.
Maybe you haven’t fallen into a physical dark and scary well like Jessica, but emotionally you find yourself in a low place today.
I pray that you will reach out for help today. Be it a close friend, sibling, parent, spouse, co- worker, or a counselor.
Samson cried out for help to the only Counselor and family he had . “Remember me, God. Save me”
There is no temptation, struggles, wounds that our Lord Jesus cannot heal you from. Jesus Christ is the best accountability partner you and I can claim to have today.
8 Verses to memorize when you hit rock bottom :
1.Proverbs 24 :16 The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
2.Psalm 34 :19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
3. Micah 7:9 Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.
4. Micah 7:10 Then my enemy will see and will be covered with shame–she who said to me, “Where is the LORD your God?” My eyes will see her; at that time she will be trampled like mud in the streets.
5.Psalm 27: 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life–whom shall I dread?
6. Romans 8:31 If God is for us , who can be against us?
7.Psalm 37:24 Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand.
8. Psalm 71: 3 Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

December 2, 2019 at 11:39 amThis is so great. I think I always minimize my problems not realizing that Satan is attacking my biggest weakness. Then, I do not ask for help because I feel like I shouldn’t need help. This is such an awesome reminder that not only is God there but He surrounds us with others who can help us as well.

December 4, 2019 at 10:29 amSometimes life seems like a series of highs and lows, doesn’t it? Like you said, Satan is really good at throwing those things at us he knows cause us pain and insecurity and frustration. I think he’s been doing that with me lately especially, but thank you for the reminder that I can choose to remember they are lies. Love your tips, and I’m sure I’ll think on these for a while to come.

December 4, 2019 at 5:10 pmSuch encouragement! I have been there before- rock bottom. All these things you said are so important. Especially reaching out. Satan wants us to isolate ourselves but if you can just muster the strength to just reach out…even if it’s on fb or a simple text….that’s so powerful!
