7 Verses to help you rise above your sinking circumstances
Rise above your sinking circumstances
Recently, I visited a fish hatchery with my triplets. This place has been open for almost 99 years. We saw how the trouts were hatched and how they raised different fishes. But my eyes were fixed on these baby turtles. They reminded me of my triplets as I captured this moment. They were resting on a wood, close to one another above the waters! Oh, the joy of knowing that you can rise above your sinking circumstances.
I personally am afraid of deep waters and this picture that I took helps me focus on how to rise above anything that may be suffocating us today.
Last week I wrote about how we were created to soar in the skies like eagles and not fall onto the ground.
Read it here : HOW TO RESPOND WHEN GOD INTERRUPTS YOUR PLANS
Today the Lord wants you and I to remember that we are created to walk on deep waters and not drown in our sinking circumstances.
We must always speak life to ourselves from God’s Word. It is so important to remember the attributes of God when situations pile up and scare us.
Are you lacking in confidence, faith? Feeling like an outcast, unappreciated by others, and close to drowning in your struggles and hurts?
HERE IS HOW TO RISE ABOVE YOUR SINKING CIRCUMSTANCES
1. CHRIST IS THE ANCHOR OF MY SOUL
Hebrews 6:19 his hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,
What is an anchor and how does it keep the boat safe?
Anchor provides security and stability.
The definition found online explains it this way – “An anchor is a device, normally made of metal, used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current. “
An anchor is not made of mud or easily breakable object. It is strong, durable, and has a hook like arm to provide a firm hold to the vessel.
My friend, YOU ARE A PRECIOUS VESSEL OF GOD -2 Timothy 2:21-23
PRAYER –
O, Anchor of my soul, I will not drift away but cling onto You, Jesus. Keep me safe by Thy side lest I wander away from You. When I am tossed in the waves of trouble, I will call upon You. For you are my security. Amen
2. CHRIST IS THE ROCK OF MY SALVATION
Psalm 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.
Psalm 144: 1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle;
Look carefully at those turtles. There are these orange streaked turtles. One had climbed onto another and was resting. What a beautiful image to remember that in our sinking circumstances, we can rest on Jesus.
Say it out loud – Christ is my strong foundation. I don’t have to worry even if the world will collapse on me
Peter wanted to walk on the water, but when he was afraid and was about to sink. The Bible mentions that IMMEDIATELY Jesus reaches out His hand and caught Peter.
PRAYER :
O, Rock of my Salvation, I praise you today as I fix my eyes on You. You teach me to walk on deep waters. You are my strength and the Rock of my refuge in sinking waters. Lead me to the rock than is higher than I.
3. CHRIST IS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF MY FAITH
Hebrews 12:2 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Christ is the founder and completer of our trust. We are runners whose eyes must be fixed on this Christ and not on our sinking surroundings.
Let us run the race knowing that a cloud of witness is surrounding you and I . Visualize yourself running a marathon – free from all baggage.
Do you see Paul cheering you on as you run this race?
Do you notice Abraham and Sarah shouting your name to keep on trusting the Lord to bless your womb?
Can you hear Stephen applauding you to never give up your faith during persecution?
Picture Timothy encouraging all the moms as they raise their children in the truth while weary and worn out with daily chores.
Moses, Daniel, Ruth, Esther and many others standing on their feet are giving you a thumbs up as you serve the Lord faithfully in your homes, Church, community, and country!
My eyes are tearing up because now I visualize Jesus, yes, our precious Lord planting our feet on higher ground above our sinking circumstances.
Psalm 66:12 You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a PLACE OF ABUNDANCE.
Praise the Lord! Jesus will bring us into a wealthy place and a place of refreshment no matter what we go through.
PRAYER :
O, Author and Finisher of my soul. Thank you for cheering me as I pilgrim in this world. May my feet never falter as I finish my race. Even though I may face the valley of the shadow of death and danger, You have promised to sojourn with me. Save me from the traps of Satan and bring me into a place of abundance. Amen.
7 Verses to cling onto to help you rise above your sinking circumstances.
Psalm 69:14 Deliver me from the mire and do not let me sink; May I be delivered from my foes and from the deep waters.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
Psalm 61:1,2 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.
Psa 66:11,12 You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.

September 6, 2019 at 5:41 pmDiana, thank you for your post! Yes, it has blessed me with words of encouragement as we go through difficulties in our life. It’s been a very hard year this 2019 for me and my family. From problems the sons baby mama, to our marriage, to my husband being diagnosed with cancer and his job. One thing after another. Then, my faith start wavering since I don’t see Gods hand in any situation to change things around for us. So, even in the middle of it all, I don’t know how but I find myself looking and searching for God despite the way I feel. This feeling of abandonment don’t leave my head, but I know this is how the enemy attacks. He attacks the mind, but GOD…I believe the battle is already won. I thank you for your post, and I would like to ask you to pray for my family. I would greatly appreciate it and thank you so much for your post that not only encourages me but so many others while we all go through this thing called life. God bless you and continue to use you for His glory. Amen

September 6, 2019 at 7:46 pmDear Marizela , you and your family sure have been going through a lot . Our naked eyes often fail to see the Hand of God during our most hurtful times. We are just humans but it is our faith that opens our spiritual eyes to see God’s Hand . In this world we will have lot of struggles . That is what the Bible says. But I pray you will feel His presence comforting you in the middle of the night . I want to share this verse from Isaiah 54:17 to you. Write this verse down and pray when you feel attacked . The Lord bless you and thank you for stopping by my blog today

November 5, 2019 at 4:53 pmThis piece was SO beneficial! I love the way it was organized with a lot of white space; helped the main points to sink in more easily. I liked the references to anchor, deep water, rock that is higher than I, encouragement from other saints, etc. It was especially helpful today in redirecting my thoughts.
