Does Jesus really care when our life is falling apart?
Lately, I have been thinking about this question “Does Jesus care when life is falling apart.” In the recent months I have seen dark clouds forming and threatening warfare. Violent storms eagerly rose to turn the lives of my loved one upside down.
Jesus, don’t you care was all I could utter in silence. My loved one’s life was in grave danger. As I ran to seek shelter in the Lord, I opened my black leather bind Bible to two Scriptures that the Holy Spirit pointed out to me that day.
Luke 10 : 40, NIV But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
Mark 4: 38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
We end up asking these questions almost everytime when life is falling apart :
Lord ! Master! Father!
–Is Jesus distant when I am abandoned by my family members?
–Does Jesus care that this storm is trying to break my marriage apart?
— Lord, don’t you care that my kids are ill?
Similarities between the Luke 10 and Mark 4
Luke 10 -Martha and her siblings were close with the Lord. The Creator of the Universe who can speak life to the very stones and convert them into bread (meal) was invited into Martha’s home.
Martha looked around and did not find her sister with her. She was toiling all alone trying to make a meal for the Lord.
She felt abandoned by her own sister/family. It was a genuine concern for Martha.
WHAT WAS JESUS DOING in this passage? Jesus was having a conversation with Mary inside the house in the clear vicinity of Martha as well.
In Mark chapter 4 ,
The disciples had walked with Jesus for months and saw the miraculous Hand of God in HIM. They had witnessed Jesus casting evil spirits out and raising up the widow’s son.
The Master of the Seas was resting in the boat with them. They looked around and saw the raging storm tossing their boat- their livelihood. Lives were on stake and Jesus seemed not to care.
WHAT WAS JESUS DOING in this passage? Jesus was sleeping in the same boat where the disciples were .
Boat reminds me of the circle of people we hang out with day in and day out.
Reflection :
Is JESUS CHRIST in our boat and circle of relationships right now?
Is Jesus the first person on speed dial to share your concerns and cares?
If God is your home in your heart, then PEACE BE STILL. Know that HE is in control.
Martha experienced distractions, and the disciples experienced intense fear.
When distractions come and causes us to seethe in anger; let us go to the Lord with our complains
When life is falling apart
If Jesus is in our boat as it is sinking, we will never drown
When fear arises within the chambers of our heart, and palpitations begins to form; let us cry out for rescue to the Creator of our World.
We must remember that while the Son of God was sleeping in the boat, the Omnipotent ONE knew that the storms were about to rise. Jesus is not oblivious to our circumstances. Nothing is a surprise to Him.
If God is for me, who can be against me. Romans 8: 31
Do not worry what the people around you will think or talk behind you while you are experiencing your rough season.
Let the very name of Jesus calm the storm in you. Hear Him command “Peace, be still “ to the turbulence that you are experiencing.
4 steps to take when you feel that your life is falling apart
1.Allow Him into your circle:
Like I mentioned above, it is important that we know who is in our “hangout” group. Do we have more of a gossip centered circle or Gospel – centered boat?
If your world is sinking, remember that God has got the whole world in the palm of His hands. Your life is not falling apart, it is falling into the great plans Christ has for you.
2. Come and boldly approach the Lord with your concerns:
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.Hebrews 4:16, ESV
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:6
The enemy will try to whisper that you are not accepted by God. He will remind you of your past sins and make you feel guilty. But my friend, Jesus is calling your very name- You are His beloved. Draw nigh to Him for you are complete in Christ. Approach Jesus like Martha and the disciples.
3. Call and cry unto Him for rescue :
Open the windows of your home and heart, look unto the Heaven and cry out for help to the ONE who made the Heavens and the Earth. He neither slumbers nor sleeps. God is not ignorant of the burdens we are carrying today.
My own soul’s conviction is that prayer is the grandest power in the entire universe. It has a more omnipotent force than electricity, attraction, gravitation, or any other of those other secret forces which men have called by name, but which they do not understand ~ Charles Spurgeon
Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3, NASB
4. Be specific with your concerns:
The Lord is asking a specific question as to how you and I want to be healed today. Lord heal me from the abuses I endured. I want a supernatural rescue from this situation. Be specific for Jesus cares.
Jesus asked the blind beggar, “”What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “I want to see!” Luke 18 :41
There is no secret of my heart which I would not pour into [the Lord’s] ear. There is no wish that might be deemed foolish or ambitious by others, which I would not communicate to him. ~Spurgeon
Casting all your cares upon Jesus, for HE cares for you. Jesus Christ is the true Intercessor, the only Deliverer, and trustworthy Friend in the battles of our life.
Yes, Jesus does cares for you He weeps with you like He wept with Mary.
Jesus waits at the gate of your mourning and will heal you and your loved ones like He did to the widow of Nain.
REFLECTION :
What do you think Job meant when he said “”I know that my Redeemer lives and at the last he will stand upon the earth…then from my flesh I shall see God”?
How did Job know God cares for HIM even in his losses?
Until next time,
You are loved and deeply cared by God
