3 perfumed Scent every woman must adorn for Jesus
Foul Stench to Perfumed scent for Jesus
I remember going to the fish market as a little girl along with my parents in one of my prettiest dress. It was located near the Arabian Sea and the stench of fishes were unbearable after a minute of standing in the market. A pretty attire had no place to be in an area filled with dead stinky fishes. I still recall the smell coming from the fisherwomen selling the fishes, and it was completely different from the scent of Versace or Burberry.
Today, I wonder how is it that my Lord was not ashamed to walk besides the fishermen at sea. Jesus walked, talked, and called the fishermen to be fishers of Men. Jesus reached out to us in our stinky state and is not ashamed to walk with us, but are we still walking with this Holy God filled with stench or scent ?
- Friend, how strong is the stench of sin in our life?
- Have people started to notice the day, month, and year-old stench coming from within us just like the people started noticing the stench coming from the grave of Lazarus?
When we choose to live in sin, and break God’s laws the stench makes us unclean to approach a Most Holy God who knew no sin. Jesus is not ashamed to be called your God, so come to Him just as you are.
Perfumed scent can replace every foul odor and makes us presentable before others. We tend to categorize some sins into a higher punishable category and other sins into lesser punishable category. But God sees even our white lies, fake smiles, and hush hush gossips as sins.
Let us therefore confess our sins, and boldly approach the throne of God.
A relationship with Christ is very important to spread perfumed scent for Jesus wherever we go, and on my last post “From stench to scent for Christ through Gospel” I mentioned how we can be part of this amazing family of our Lord Jesus.
For we are a sweet perfume of Christ to God in those being saved and in those perishing 2 Corinthians 2:15
Here are 3 ways God wants every Christian woman to spread perfumed Scent for Him on this earth:
I. Scent of Selfless Love :
Jesus is the very picture of selfless love. The One and Only God of this Universe who laid down His life for selfish creation as ourselves. Jesus loved us while we were still sinners and took upon Himself the stench of our sin.
The fragrance of His unconditional love should continue to flow from us to the rest of the world. As sisters, wives, mothers, grandmothers, bloggers, and even ministers of Christ let us learn from Jesus how to spread the scent of selfless love for one another.
A selfless love produces a perfumed Scent
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9,NASB).
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15::13,KJV)
II. Scent of Sacrifice :
The aroma that comes from a repentant heart is the sacrifice that God is looking for in each of us . It should be giving our self as a Living sacrifice, and dying to self.
[Luke 7: 36-38,NLT] One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat .When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.
This woman performed the greatest act of worship for the Most Holy God by breaking the most expensive alabaster perfume. Her actions were condoned by the legalistic disciples but praised by our humble Lord.
An immoral woman gave her best to God who gave His very best ,His Son Jesus for sinful humans like you and I.
It is the kind of worship the Lord desires from each one of us- a worship of daily sacrifice of SMELLY ME and replacing it with Fragrant Jesus.
III. Scent of Sincerity:
As daughters of our Lord, our words and actions must always be seasoned with sincerity so it can fill our homes and community with very fragrant scent of our Savior. God wants our relationships with our spouses, friends, and even strangers to be sincere and pleasant.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:17, KJV).
For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: 1 Thessalonians 2:5,KJV)
We must avoid flattering speech, gossiping, slandering, and vain babblings as God is forever our witness and speak the truth with love with one another. God who trieth our hearts, knows our thoughts from afar and we must adorn the scent of sincerity always when we say we love our fellow sisters and brothers in Christ.
Those who are Women of God avoid slandering and adorn the scent of sacrifice for Jesus.
Ponder :
- Which of these 3 Perfumed Scents would you like to adorn today for Jesus today?
- Which of these Scent do you struggle to adorn these days?
- How are you wearing your scent in your day to day role ?
I love reading your comments they are valuable and every one of your visit here on my blog as count as a blessing and encouragement
Until we meet again here next time
Adorning myself with His Scent,

September 4, 2017 at 8:14 pmH Diana! I experienced this very thing this week as I walked past the huge piles of debris in neighborhoods across Houston. The stench of sewage, dampness, and mold accosted my senses, but inside each home was beautiful people loving their neighbors ripping out carpet, and tearing out sheetrock being the hands and feet of Jesus which permeated the beautiful aroma of Jesus!

September 5, 2017 at 8:39 amWhat a lovely metaphor. In Solomon’s temple, the coals from the Holocaust altar would be taken by a solid gold shovel into the Holy Place and put into the incense altar where the prayers of the people were a sweet savor to the Lord.

September 6, 2017 at 10:13 amDiana, I love where you took this! Creative and clever. BUT, I do believe Jesus loved the smell of fish – His bestest friends were stinky fishermen!!! Neighbors at Jaime’s.

September 6, 2017 at 10:18 amHey Susan, thank you for stopping by today. I do believe that Jesus loved those stinky fishermen, but HE called them be Fragrant Fishers of Men as well 🙂 and that is exactly what Peter was for his Savior.

September 6, 2017 at 11:23 amDiana,
What an extraordinary post! I want to posses each of these scents and be a fragrant offering unto the Lord. I just love the scripture behind each of these scents and had to highlight them in my bible app. My heart is one that desires to be sincere. I am one who does not particularly care for flattery, but a sincere heart blessed me so. I pray that every action is driven by genuine affection in me. Thank you so much for this!

September 6, 2017 at 5:33 pmThat 2 Corinthians 2:15 has always intrigued and inspired me to live more boldly for Christ. I need to grow in the scent of sincerity – I love that you included that Diana! And the story of the woman who perfumed Jesus’ feet – so powerful. With that image in mind, the beauty of repentance is so much stronger. Thanks Diana.

September 8, 2017 at 9:51 amDani, love it when you visit me and leave amazing comments. The lady who broke her perfume for Christ always humbles me. She adorned repentance and scent of sincerity for Her Lord when others rebuked her
Blessings 🙂

September 8, 2017 at 7:49 amLove this idea! I once did a little studying on 2 Cor 14-16 about how the Roman conquerers would parade through regions they had taken over and pagan Roman priests would burn incense as a symbol of their victory. Paul is telling us in these verses that we ought to spread the scent of of victory in Jesus everywhere we go, too! Happy to have been your neighbor this morning at FreshMarketFriday. Blessings!

September 8, 2017 at 9:49 amLiz, thank you for sharing that amazing part of history with me. I love how burning incense is a symbol of our victory in Christ as well
Blessings.

September 8, 2017 at 9:26 amI’m trying daily to put on that “scent of selfless love.” It’s the most difficult, I think, when so many people seem so angry right now and difficult to love.
Diana
September 8, 2017 at 9:48 amHi Joey, Selfless love is so difficult to put on especially when people don’t want to be loved. I pray you will find the kind of Love Jesus portrayed to the ones who was angry at HIM.

September 14, 2017 at 7:13 pmSuch a good reminder that we don’t have to ‘get it all together’ in order to come to Him – in fact, we can’t. It’s impossible. That’s why we need a Savior. Thanks for sharing on Grace and Truth.
